Mission Statement

The mission of the Weldon City School District is to create and maintain a highly effective educational system in which every student receives the highest quality education.  School employees and parents work together to prepare students to become caring, competent, and responsible citizens who value education as a lifelong process.

    Weldon City Schools Board of Education recognized performance awards received from the State Superintendent's Office on behalf of schools achieving expected academic progress and exceeding academic progress.  Weldon Elementary Global Academy, Weldon STEM High School, and Roanoke Valley Early College received recognition for achieving the goal of expected academic progress for students during the 2017-2018 school year.   Weldon Middle School achieved the goal of exceeding expected academic progress for students during the 2017-2018 school year. 


    Family Engagement On Demand is an online platform to help Weldon City Schools effectively outreach to families through streaming parent videos designed to model demonstrations on how parents can work at home to support their child’s learning. The platform also supports capacity building of educators through 50+ hours of professional development including family engagement publications, webinars, and workshops.

Federal Programs Needs Assessment Survey

The Weldon City Schools Title I Office is doing a "needs assessment" to help in Title I planning for the 2016-17 school year. WCS Exposure control plan

The Bloodborne pathogens exposure control plan has been developed by Weldon City Schools to comply with the regulations defined in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) standard and North Carolina Medical Waste Management General Requirements and Definitions.  The primary purpose of the standard is to eliminate or minimize on-the-job exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, which could result in the transmission of bloodborne pathogens and lead to disease or death.

2015 - 2016 Grading Scale Changes


The new mini-module “EVAAS Basics,” available through Home Base to all North Carolina educators, explains the EVAAS growth model of evaluating teachers, including the differences between growth and efficiency, how projections and predictions are calculated and used, and how statistical concepts like normal curve equivalents and standard error contribute to making Standard 6 a fair assessment of teacher growth. Assessment specification documents typically outline the purpose of the assessment, the structure of the assessment (e.g., item types, number of items, test sections, test administration time), and percentage of items or score points measuring a specific goal or domain category. The assessment specification documents for the NC Final Exams are being updated for the 2014-15 school year.  The 2014-15 specification documents will include additional information about each exam including the number of operational items for each objective or standard, delivery mode options, and links for supplemental materials and released items.


The 2014-15 assessment specification documents are being posted as they are completed. Specification documents for the NC Final Exams of English I, English III, English IV, Grades 6-8 Social Studies, World History, American History I, American History II, Civics and Economics, U.S. History, Grades 4, 6, & 7 Science, Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Earth and Environmental Science are now available at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/common-exams/specifications/.  


Specification documents for the mathematics and social studies grades 4 & 5 NC Final Exams will be posted very soon.


Grade 3 Portfolio Sample Set Available for Parents and Teachers- NCDPI’s Test Development Section has created a set of sample grade 3 reading portfolio selections that consist of 14 passages that teachers can use with students and parents can use at home to reinforce the understanding of the standards. Is the NCEdCloud IAM Optional ?  

When the IAM Service is integrated with Home Base applications in early July 2015, it will no longer be an Opt-In Service - all LEAs and Charter Schools will need to use the NCEdCloud IAM Service to access Home Base applications.  When the NCEdCloud IAM Service was originally proposed, it was prior to Home Base being rolled out (the LEAs were still using NCWise) and any LEA or Charter School interested in using the IAM Service for Single Sign-On could opt-in to the service.

What applications will I need to use my NCEdCloud Access for?

Target Applications are the cloud-based applications, resources, and services that IAM K-12 Community Users will be accessing for their education needs.  Target Applications will be using the IAM Service to authenticate and authorize these users.
